Ranking No. 1 Sunayama-Beach (砂山ビーチ)
This secluded beach, hidden beyond a sand dune, is known for its iconic arch-shaped rock formation. It boasts crystal-clear waters and soft white sand, making it a popular spot to catch stunning sunsets. To reach the beach from the parking lot, visitors must walk over the dune. While the distance is only about 40 meters, the uneven terrain makes it unsuitable for carrying large or heavy items.
Be aware that the waves here can be rough, increasing the risk of drowning. As this is a public beach with no lifeguards on duty, it’s important to stay close to shore and avoid venturing too far out into the sea.

This beach is a popular snorkeling spot where you can observe vibrant tropical fish and coral reefs up close. With its shallow, calm waters, it’s ideal for beginners and families alike. It’s also well-known for frequent sea turtle sightings, adding to its appeal.
Despite the beach’s popularity, the parking area is relatively small, often resulting in traffic congestion during busy times. However, during peak season, a paid parking lot opens just beyond the free one. If you want to make the most of your time, opting for the paid lot is a smart choice.

4位 イムギャーマリンガーデン
自然の地形を活かした海浜公園で波も穏やかなためお子様連れの海水浴にもぴったりです。シュノーケリングや散策に最適で、静かな時間を過ごせます。
ビーチのそばには遊歩道を少し登ると、入り組んだ入江や展望台からの360度のパノラマビューを見ることもできます。

5位 シギラビーチ
リゾート施設内にあるビーチで、透明度の高い海と白砂の浜辺が広がります。ウミガメと出会えることもあり、シュノーケリングやマリンアクティビティが充実しています。
ホテルのプライベートビーチになっているエリアもありますが、外から訪れたお客様向けの駐車場（有料）も併設されているので、シギラリゾートに宿泊している方以外でも楽しむことができます。

6位 渡口の浜 （伊良部島）
伊良部島にある約800m続く白砂のビーチで、静かで落ち着いた雰囲気が魅力です。観光客が比較的少なく、プライベート感を味わえます。また、このビーチは砂の白さと細かさで有名で、宮古島諸島の中でももっともさらさらだといっても過言ではありません。真っ白なビーチから下地島を望んでください。
駐車場の横にはブルータートルというダイニングバーもあります。水着のままでも入店できますので、ビーチ遊びの後に立ち寄ってみてはいかがでしょうか？

7位 与那覇前浜ビーチ
こちらは宮古島の南西部、東急リゾートホテルの南側に位置し、遠くに望んでいるのは来間大橋と来間島です。宮古島を代表する美しいビーチで、全長約7kmにも及ぶ白い砂浜と透明度の高いエメラルドグリーンの海が特徴です。「東洋一の美しさ」とも称されるのですが、7位とまりになってしまった理由は「混雑」とサンゴ礁や岩場がすくないため、シュノーケリングには不向きな点に注意が必要です。また、遠浅ですが少し沖に出ると塩の流れが強くなるところもあり、離岸流に流されるリスクもあります。
ただ、ビーチ沿いを夕陽を見ながらお散歩するには最強といっても過言ではないほど素敵なビーチです。マリンアクティビティに少し疲れたら、お散歩がてらに出掛けてみてはいかがでしょうか？

繁華街からは少し遠いですが、新城海岸やシギらビーチを含め、宮古島の比較的東側の海岸ではウミガメと遭遇できることもあり、ぜひ訪れてみていただきたいです。
ただ、ビーチをおとずれてもすぐにウミガメに出会えるとは限りません。シュノーケリングをする際はシュノーケリングセットやライフベストを忘れずに。ビーチでもレンタルがありますが、２−３回シュノーケリングを行う予定があれば、自身で購入し携行されることをお勧めします。
